When does the Union-Finley Messenger come out?
We publish a new paper every month. 12 issues per year. Typically,
the Union-Finley Messenger “hits the streets” and is available
for pick-up at local dropsites around the 28th day of the month.
How much does it cost to advertise in the Union-Finley Messenger?
Our advertising rates are very inexpensive compared to most other area newspapers.
Our costs vary depending upon the size of ad and the frequency (number of times
the ad runs). We offer ads for as low as $5.00 per month in our
classified section, and our Business Directory listings are just $35 per month.

How can I submit a classified ad?
Submitting a classified ad is easy. Just e-mail us at and
tell us how you want your ad to read, and we will respond back to you with
a total word count and cost for your ad. You can also fax us your classified
ad, mail it through the Post Office, or for your convenience, just fill out
the form on our website under “Submit a Classified
ad” and click
send.
How much does it cost to submit news and announcements?
Nothing. There is no charge for submitting news, happenings, events
and information. We publish community news free of charge and encourage
all local residents, businesses and organizations to submit their news. Announcements
for weddings, engagements, graduations, anniversaries and the like are gladly
accepted by the Messenger free of charge. Photos are also welcome.
How do I submit news and information to the Union-Finley Messenger?
Submitting a news, events and happenings is easy. Just e-mail us your

submissions should be in the form of an attached Microsoft Word document, or
typed directly in the body copy of your e-mail. You can also fax us your
news, mail it through the Post Office, or even give us a phone call to tell

Why don’t you charge a price for the paper?
We wanted to make sure that everybody could have free access to local news
and information. We did not want price to be a deterrent or discourage
potential readers from picking us up. It is more beneficial to
the community if there are more readers who stay in-tune on local topics and
it is also better for our advertisers as we open up the distribution to EVERYONE,
and not just the few select individuals who buy a paid newspaper.
Who owns the Union-Finley Messenger?
The Union-Finley Messenger is independently owned and operated by Haniford
Enterprises, LLC. Principal owner is Douglas Haniford, a former Finleyville
resident and an experienced marketing communications professional. In addition
to running the Union-Finley Messenger, Haniford has held advertising and marketing
positions for such companies as PNC Bank; Giant Eagle; Dick’s Sporting
Goods; American Outpost Clothing; MARC Advertising; and Ketchum Advertising.
