Elizabeth Forward Middle School held its Annual Veterans Day Assembly in conjunction with the Blaine Hill VFW Post 7632 and American Legion Post 553 on Friday, November 11. Guest speaker was Iraq War veteran SFC Justin Wardman. The event also included a flag presentation by Captain Julius Simon, USAFX, a Pow/Mia Ceremony, and the presentation of a Table of Honor and Remembrance. Jennifer Meliton sang the National Anthem, and the Middle School Symphonic Band and Choir performed. The ceremony ended with a flag folding presentation, the playing of Taps by Mark Maurer, and the Retreat of Colors. A highlight of the ceremony was a Powerpoint presentation by middle school students, featuring interviews of Veterans who spoke poignantly on their experiences, its impact on their lives, and the cost of the freedoms that we enjoy.
