It will be performed “once upon a time, in a faraway land,” during four shows beginning May 5 through May 8. Performances begin at 7:30 PM at Ringgold Middle School in Finleyville.
Beauty and the Beast is specifically written by MTI Theatre Productions for middle school age performers. As with past Finley productions, audiences will find themselves watching a show that rivals high school productions. The dedicated production team consists of Melanie Sandrock (Music Director), Barbara Rudar (Choreographer), and Karl Kelley (Director). Also part of that team, are artists Kathy Petrosky and George Lyons, who assist the students in painting the stage scenes.
In their 11th season together, the goal remains the same: create an educational experience in which students literally run the entire show. It is not just the acting and singing. From lights, sound, scene creation and set changes, by show time all of the students in this 8th grade choir project will have learned to execute some fine points of stage craft. The actors are double cast, so each night is a brand new show, as each student has developed their character differently. Double cast characters may find themselves changing scenes on their “off night.” Students have invested many rehearsal hours to provide fellow peers and the community with great family entertainment.
Guests are also invited to join Belle for tea on Saturday, May 8th at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Advance reservations must be made by May 3. Tea tickets are $5.00 and include a picture with Belle. The shows are preformed for a full house, so purchase tickets in advance! For more information or tickets, call the school office at (724) 348-7154.
