Upcoming Meetings of the Friends of the Montour Trail

The South Hills Friends of the Montour Trail is a group of individuals interested in the maintenance, improvement and promotion of 11 miles of Montour Trail from Library (Milepost 35.3) to Clairton (Milepost 46.3).
The bridge, spanning Piney Fork Creek near Triphammer Road, will be decked this spring. Construction of a ramp to connect the bridge to the existing trail at Triphammer Road is expected in 2011.
Regular meetings of the Friends group are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Hills Borough building. The May 2010 meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 12, and the June meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 9. Individuals interested in the Montour Trail are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings or visit the Montour Trail website at www.montourtrail.org for additional information. Activities concerning the entire Montour Trail and
links to the sites of other western Pennsylvania trails are also posted on the Montour Trail web site.

On March 24, as another step in a multi-year project to extend the completed Montour trail in South Park Township from Triphammer Road east to Piney Fork Road, this steel truss bridge was set on abutments constructed in late 2008.
