Ringgold High School Band and Chorus Have Award Winning Year

The Ringgold Band and Chorus students recently returned from an action packed tour of New York City. The combined trip of Band and Chorus ranged from Broadway workshops for all, to a Broadway Musical (In the Heights), and dinner at the world famous Cotton Club.

But the main focus of the trip was the students attending the New York City Heritage Festival. Where they won the following awards:

Concert Band - Silver (Excellent Rating)
Percussion Ensemble - Silver (Excellent Rating)
Jazz Ensemble - Bronze (Good Rating), first place in class
Women's Chorus received the rating of Silver and placed first in their category.
Concert Choir received the rating of Bronze and placed second in their category.
Barber Shoppers received the rating of Bronze and placed second in their category.
Jared Hancock received the Adjudicators choice Maestro Award for Outstanding Soloist.

We also collectively (Band and Chorus) won the “Spirit of New York” award.

The chorus performed at the Riverside Cathedral. If that wasn't enough the Ringgold Marching Band had the honor of representing the area, by marching in the 2010 New York City Saint Patrick's Day Parade. One of the largest parades in the United States. An unforgettable experience for all.

Congratulations to the following students for other spectacular achievements this year:

District Band: Derek Jobes, Mike Smith, Jake Tolliver
County Band: Nicole Fonner, Dave Guentner, Derek Jobes, Gabbi Macko, Jared Madaras, Ryan Michalowski, Andrew Reed, Mike Smith
Sami Burnworth: For receiving "The Mouscar Award", for Most Outstanding Divisional Performance at Twirl Mania International Twirling Championships.

The Ringgold Band will be hosting the following event in May: May 19 - Spring Concert featuring the combined talents of the R.H.S. Band and Chorus.
