JEWELRY SALE -  West Newton Library.  Mega jewelry sale on Saturday, June 1 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. We will be offering close to 1,000 pieces for jewelry for sale that day. We have a nice selection of vintage, modern, sterling silver, pearls, and costume jewelry that includes necklaces, pins & broaches, bracelets, pierced and clip earrings, watches and even jewelry boxes. Don't miss the used book sale as well. The event will be held either rain or shine. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Friends of the West Newton Library.
 
 “FLEATIQUE ON THE MON” - held in Chess Park, and through-out Monongahela and New Eagle from 8 am until 3 pm. Crafter and antique dealers will be featured in Chess Park, while flea market vendors and information booths will be located on Second Street. This unique event is known as the largest street sale in Southwestern Pennsylvania! Running along a three-mile stretch of Main Street, also Route 88, 837 and 136, in Monongahela and New Eagle, businesses, churches, and homeowners participate with yard sales, bazaars, rummage sales and garage sales. MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR THE MILITARY - Working in conjunction with the Bible Chapel in McMurray, “Wreaths Across America”, and “The Wounded Warrior Project”, the 2nd annual motorcycle “Ride for Wreaths and Roar for the Military” will raise funds to honor America’s soldiers, sailors, marines and air force. Monies raised will go to purchase wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves as part of ceremonies during the holiday season.

The ride will be held on June 8, 2013, starting at Steel City Motorcycles, 1375 Washington Road (Route 19), Washington, PA.  Registration opens at 9:30 AM; bikers leave at 11:00 AM.  The ride is approximately 50 miles in length.  There will be a stop along the ride for a brief ceremony at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies near Cecil, before finishing at the Bible Chapel in McMurray for a cookout and music.

CHICKEN BBQ DINNER-  Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Road, Eighty Four, will hold a Chicken BBQ Dinner on Saturday, June 8 from 1.00 – 6:00 p.m. Adult dinner will include grilled chicken, sides, dessert and drinks. AARP 55 ALIVE BEGINNERS DRIVING COURSE - Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., ECC. The nation's first and largest classroom driver improvement course specially designed for motorists age 50 and older. It is intended to help improve skills while teaching accident and traffic violation avoidance. Some insurance companies offer discounts for course completion. All information is conveyed in a classroom setting in two half-day sessions. The cost is $12 per person for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Pre-registration is required, call 724-258-1333.

ST. DAMIEN PARISH PARK SUMMERFEST - 1st and Main St., Monongahela, Friday, 5:00 – 11:00 pm; Saturday, 5:00 – 11:00 pm; and Sunday, 4:00 – 9:00 pm. Highlights include bake sale, bingo, basket raffle, children’s and adult games, and small games of chance. Food will include various ethnic and American foods – wings, pizza, funnel cakes, ice cream, BBQ, hand cut fries, fresh squeezed lemonade and other refreshments.

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY DAY - There will be plenty of information booths, demonstrations, food, and fun to entertain the entire family, from toddlers to senior citizens.  Festivities will conclude with our annual fireworks display that will light up the sky at approximately 9:30 – 9:45 pm.  Country Singer, Chris Higbee, will be the live entertainment for the evening.  Additional music entertainment by Tim Grealish, as well as the Four Townsmen.  There is also talk of a Community Day favorite returning … the Dunk Tank! There will be appearances from The Pittsburgh Passion women’s football team and the Wild Things mascot.  We will have two strolling magicians and two clowns who will entertain with balloon art and face painting.   A trackless train for kids to ride. The games this year are fish pond, tip the cat, basketball, and hill climbing, just to name a few. There will be four inflatables for hours of fun!   There will be a kid-friendly DJ playing music in the Kidz Zone!
A Cornhole Tournament will begin at 3:00 pm. Pre-register by June 14 at 3:30 pm and the cost is only $5 per person, so only $10 for a two person team. $15 per two person team to register the day of the tournament. Cash prizes for top finishers.

ELIZABETH FORWARD CARNIVAL - The second annual Elizabeth Forward Carnival sponsored by the Elizabeth Forward Band Boosters will be held from Monday, June 24 through Saturday, June 29 this year.  The event takes place at the Elizabeth Forward High School located at 1000 Weigles Hill Road in Elizabeth Township.   Over twenty carnival rides operated by Swank’s Steel City Shows will provide fun for everyone from young children to adults.   The carnival rides start at 6:30 pm every evening.  An assortment of games of chance including nightly Bingo and a variety of foods and refreshments will be available.  New this year will feature nightly entertainment and an Emergency Services and Armed Forces Night complete with a vehicle show.  A Zambelli fireworks display sponsored by Day Toyota is scheduled for Saturday night.

THOMAS A'BECKET PARISH FESTIVAL AND BINGO EXTRAVAGANZA - St. Thomas A'Becket Parish, 139 Gill Hall Rd., Jefferson Hills, will hold its annual Parish Festival June 27 - 29 from 6 - 11 pm each night. Attractions will include super auction, bake sale, 50/50, face painting, spin art, bingo, pic-a-tic for gift baskets, games and rides.

MON VALLEY YMCA OLDIES DANCE - in the Activity Hall from 5:30 - 8:00 pm. The event is free to members, $3.00 for non-members. Bring your own food and non-alcoholic drink. DJ Chris Paglia, 50/50 raffle. Register in the business office.
 
 
MVH AND RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE - Friday, June 28 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., ECC. MVH, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is sponsoring a blood drive to benefit the local community.
