Union Twp. has added a hazardous waste collection feature to its contract with Waste Management. The new contract will go into effect on July 1, 2012.
WM will send residents a kit with a container and the necessary instructions. Small items and liquids should be placed inside the container; large items such as car batteries, TVs and computers should be placed outside (number of items limited).
Residents will receive a pick¬up date, and WM will retrieve the container and items on this day. The extra cost for a typical customer is approximately $3.75 per quarter to be shared by all residents. Leaking containers will not be accepted. WM will provide more detailed information to its customers but would like to inform customers that they can dispose of the following through its service:
Garden chemicals
Solvents
Paints
Aerosols
Cleaners
Antifreeze
Sharps
