Ringgold Students Lend Helping Hands to the Legion
By Paul Chasko

Eighth-grade students from the Ringgold Middle School spent the sunny Friday morning before Memorial Day placing American flags on the graves of veterans at Sacred Heart Cemetery near Monongahela.

Finley Middle School students searched for the bronze markers of veteran’s graves so they could appropriately place a flag.
Placing these flags on the graves of each and every veteran’s grave in the cemetery on the weekend before Memorial Day is a daunting task faced by the John C. Ford American Legion Post 949 of Carroll Township. They simply don’t have enough members to place flags on the hundreds of veteran’s graves, so they asked for and received helping hands from 13 eighth-grade students from Finley Middle School. The kids showed up by school bus at 9 a.m., and, with direction from several Legion members, finished the job before noon.
