Bentworth School Board Honors 10 Retirees

The Bentworth School Board met on May 22, 2012 and again on June 18, 2012. The following retirees were recognized and thanked for their years of service to the district: John Areford; Ron Johnson; Diana Lese; Robynne Moessner; Mary Rados; Bernice Metz; Tom Teagarden; Judy Waggoner; Diane Watson; and Linda Nickeson.
 

Bentworth Superintendent Baker commends and thanks school district retirees for their years of service at the May 2012 Board Meeting. Retirees include: John Areford; Ron Johnson; Diana Lese; Robynne Moessner; Mary Rados; Bernice Metz; Tom Teagarden; Judy Waggoner; Diane Watson; and Linda Nickeson.
The conference request by Scott Martin to attend the Special Education Leadership Conference was approved.
 
The following curricular and extracurricular items were approved: Textbook Adoption (new): AP Biology, Algebra I, Algebra II, General Math, and Advanced Word Processing and Additions (existing); 2012 summer school proposal; technology upgrades, with a presentation of a quote to replace 65 computers in Elementary at $40,000-$42,000; summer programs, including band and an extended school year; math, reading, and social skills 4 days, 9-12 noon, Washington Family Center.
 
 
In Personnel, the following were approved:
• Additional Substitutes: Trisha Yates, substitute and weekend bus driver.
• The employments of the following coaches: Julie Monsman, girls’ basketball assistant; Bill Minerd, boys’ basketball assistant; Derek Anderson, non-compensated boys’ basketball; Albert Thomas, first assistant wrestling; Tryel Beach, Jay Mizia, Andy Shrader, and Chuck Wonsettler, non-compensated wrestling; Kari Jones, head cheerleading grades 9-12.
• The request of Ashlee Grandstrand for unpaid maternity leave effective may 3 through the remainder of the school year was granted.
• Election of Betty Bellicini as Board treasurer for the term of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 took place.
 
The contract services of Janet Day to provide speech therapy for the extended school year at an hourly rate of $40 was approved. Rental of classroom to Intermediate Unit #1 was appoved, as was an agreement with Centerville Clinics to provide student assistance and school-based counseling services for the 2012-13 school year at no cost to the district.
