The Monongahela Police Department reported that 60,801 miles were logged on their five police cruisers during 2011. Within their jurisdiction of Monongahela, New Eagle, and Finleyville combined, there were 4,667 calls made to the police, resulting in 51 categories of 4,070 offenses. Shown below are the most and least common categories, and the respective number of offenses registered:

New taxes to help pay Borough’s share of Regional Police Department

Taxpayers in North Charleroi will see a 7.5 mil tax increase in 2012, but they will also see their borough become part of a regional police department that includes the boroughs of Charleroi and Speers.

Taxes remain steady as supervisors work to develop infrastructure

Fallowfield Township Supervisors adopted a $1.1 million budget for 2012 with no increases in property taxes, but at least one supervisor believes that the amount of income generated from potential new business will determine if the trend for no new taxes will continue.

At the first regular Borough of Donora Council Meeting of 2012, resident John Sobeck asked Council to address a chicken problem in his neighborhood. Mr. Sobeck noted that multiple chickens are roaming the Cypress Alley near 12th St. in Donora.
