PTHS Students Shine in German Day Competition

Peters Township High School sophomore Emily Corrigan has earned first place honors in the art category of the annual German Day Competition held at Washington and JeffersonCollege on March 17. Junior Michael Counihan also earned 2nd place in the poetry competition at the event.

PTHS Musicians Named to All State Band

Peters
Township High School students H.B. Hull and John MacKay have earned the honor of selection into the PA Music Educators Association (PMEA) All State Band. The students auditioned at Region I Band against the best musicians in the region to earn this distinction. MacKay will be a member of the All State Wind Ensemble and Hull will represent PTHS in the All State Concert Band. The PMEA All State conference will be held in Hershey from April 13-16.

PTSD Kindergarten Registration for 2011-2012 School Year

On March 30 and 31, parents from throughout PetersTownship registered their children for kindergarten in the 2011 - 2012 school year. If your child will turn five on or before September 1, they are eligible to attend kindergarten next year. It is
important to register early as planning has already begun for next school year.

“Arts and Crafts – Poetry and Stitching,” I guess it all fits together. Mr. Gilpin at Gastonville Elementary Center reached deep into his bag of teaching tricks to introduce GEC students to some fancy stitching and poetry all in one project.

St. Katharine Drexel School Has Another "Golden Apple Award" Winner

St. Katharine Drexel School is pleased to announce that Mrs. Amy Nowakowski has been named a Golden Apple Award winner for the 2010 - 2011 school year.

Since 1992, through the generosity and kindness of the Donahue Family Foundation, the Diocese of Pittsburgh has honored teachers in Catholic elementary and secondary schools with the distinguished Golden Apple Award.

Kindergarten Fun Night

On March 31, Team Greenock hosted a Fun Night with the incoming kindergarten children and their families. During the event, children met the teachers, visited classrooms, and participated in activities to help prepare them for kindergarten.

Central Students hold a Walk-a-Thon to Make a Difference

The current theme in reading is "Making a Difference." The 5th graders at Central Elementary School helped make a difference for the Huwalt family with a walk-a-thon. They were passing out sticks, helping the younger students count their laps, writing certificates, and distributing drinks & snacks.
